Science Fest 2019

The Science Fest 2018-19 was organized in Aldel Education Trust’s St John’s Technical and Educational Campus on 25th January 2019 and 26th January 2019. Department of Commerce and Department of Management (BMS) displayed four projects: Unified Payments Interface Payment Banks Evolution of Medium of exchange E- Wallets Department of B.Sc(IT) presented projects: 1. Gas Automation System: T.Y. B.Sc (IT) 2. Automatic Voice Controlled Car: F.Y. B.Sc(IT) Department of B.Sc(HS) Hospitality department had put up various Food and Beverage Stalls. Details of the same are as follows: Mocktail Counter (Chill Maar): Blue lagoon, Cold coffee, LXG  Chinese Counter(The Emperor’s Shack): Sinking Island, Floating strings  Wrap Counter(Gully Wrap):Aloo chaat wrap, Chole wrap, Butter chicken wrap, Kathi roll  Sweet Counter(Tutti Fruitti): Pancake, Doughnut, Churros  Flower & Origami Counter(Jungle Safari): Flower arrangement, Linen origami

STUDY VISIT TO BOMBAY STOCK EXCHANGE (BSE)

The Department of Commerce organized a Study visit to Bombay Stock Exchange on 31st July 2018. Seventy students of Second Year BBI and B.Com with three Faculty members were part of the visit. Mr. Mabroon Chakraborty, Resource person, conducted a session for the students on “History and Working of Indian Stock Market” and “contribution of BSE in country’s economic growth”. The students got an opportunity to interact with Industry Professionals and learnt about stock dealing, Future and option dealings and short term courses offered by stock exchange post graduation. Later students visited to World Trade centre and returned with a lot of learnings. Overall it was a good practical experience for the students.

Clothes Distribution Drive

Date: 20th October 2018 Time: 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm Venue: Dastooripada, Dist: Palghar Participants : NSS Volunteers of SJCHS Programme In-charge: Prof. Maqsood Memon (NSS Programme Officer, SJCHS), Mr. Sachin Urade (NSS Programme Officer, SJCEM) St. John College of Humanities and Sciences, Palghar – NSS Unit in association with Palghar cloth bank took an initiative and organized NSS Clothes Collection Drive at St.John Technical Campus, Palghar. The Drive duration was from 11th October to 17th October 2018.The purpose of this activity is to provide clothes to the needy and poor Tribal Children, Families nearby adopted village Dastooripda by St.John College of Humanities and Sciences (SJCHS). The NSS Volunteers started this activity with the daily follow up in all institutes of St.John Technical Campus.Volunteers kept boxes near the entrances of all the institutes with catchy note/ slogan “ Donate Clothes – for the poor and needy ”. The boxes were donated by Palghar Cloth Bank.There was overwhelming response from Teaching, Non – Teaching staff and students in the St.John Technical Campus. Volunteers took sincere efforts in collecting all the clothes and segregated them as per age groups. On 20thOctober, 2018 NSS Volunteers of SJCHS – NSS unit conducted the said drive at adopted village Dastooripada.The Drive was started with the introductory speech given by Mr. Sachin Urade. Thus totally 10 volunteers actively participated in this Drive. The students were very enthusiastic about the drive as they were happy after experiencing the cheerful and happy faces of the children in tribal community.The villagers accepted all the clothes without any grudging which were distributed by NSS Volunteers. On the whole, the drive was very fruitful for the villagers. As a result, they appeared very much positive and supportive about the programme when they witnessed sympathy and painstaking efforts for tribal children. They also thanked and appreciated all the NSS Volunteers and Programme officer for taking the initiative in these regards and the Concern of SJCHS-NSS unit for the villagers.

First Year Students’ Orientation Programme- 2018-19

St. John College of Humanities & Sciences organized an orientation programme for the newly admitted Commerce, Management and Arts students at the institute premises on 7th July 2018. The major objective of the programme was to make the parents and students aware of the academic aspects of the course, the rules and regulations of the Institute and ensuring parental participation in monitoring the performance and progress of the students. The programme was inaugurated with the lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest, Mr. Subramayam, President, Tarapur Management Association, Mr. Albert D’ Souza, Chairman, Aldel Education Trust, Dr. B. S. Ajitkumar, Principal, St. John College of Humanities & Sciences and other dignitaries. Mr. Subramanyam, in his address, advised the students to be focused and strong-willed in whatever path they chose. The chairman expressed his delight over the fact that all the seats were full. The Principal assured unconditional support and assistance to all the students and wished them for their future. The programme concluded with the vote of thanks and national anthem.

Induction and Orientation Programme 2017

Induction and Orientation Programme 2017 The induction program for the newly admitted first-year students in Engineering and Pharmacy programmes was organised on 9th August 2017.  President of the function was Rev. Bishop Barthol Baretto. Induction officer Mr. Leslie Rebello conducted a session for about 1.5 hrs for the students. Mr. Albert W. D’souza, Chairman of Aldel Education Trust, addressed the gathering with a motivational speech. To motivate the students a motivational video clipping was shown from Bollywood movie Lakshya in which it is shown how to achieve our Goal in life. The program ended with the National Anthem and later refreshment was served to the students.
