Science Fest 2017

Science Fest 2017 The Science Fest 2017 was conducted on 25th and 26th January 2017. Science Fest– “A journey from Science to Innovative Technology” is an annual 2-days event organized every year on 25th and 26th January at St.John Technical and Educational Campus. The theme for the Science Fest 2017 was “Science In The Service Of Humanity”. The students of St.John Technical Campus had put up stalls for Career guidance, NSS center, Games stalls, Management Infoline and Warli products. The MMS department had their own Career Guidance stalls to counsel and guide the students/ parents on numerous possibilities available for higher education/ career and there by ensure a good and bright future. The students of all the institutes showcased some of their innovative projects and ideas to make the science fest an enriching experience for all. All the Institutes in the St.John Technical Campus participated in the Fest. The winners were felicitated by the Chief Guest with trophies, cash prizes and certificates whereas all the participants were given certificates.

Annual Day 2017

Annual Day 2017 St. John Technical Campus celebrated its Annual Day on 13th January 2017 with great enthusiasm. Eminent personalities with diversified background graced us on this occasion. We had Rev. Fr. Reginald Tauro (Founder Director of Xavier’s Institute of Engineering) as the Chief Guest and Mrs. Saraswati Iyer (Managing Director of Gyan Foundation) as the Guest of Honour. Mr. Albert W. D’Souza (Chairman of Aldel Education Trust), Mrs. Elvina D’Souza (Secretary), Dr. S. Krishnamoorthy (Advisor), Mr. Thomas Lobo (Campus Director), Mrs. Elaine D’Souza Buthello (Treasurer), Mr. Aldridge D’Souza (Member), Dr. Satish Takalikar (Principal of St. John College of Engineering and Management), Dr. Savita Tauro (Principal of St. John Institute of Pharmacy and Research) and Dr. Anil Kumar Chaudhary (Principal of St. John College of Humanities and Sciences) were the dignitaries on the dais. The Chairman welcomed the guests and addressed the students. The faculty & the students were motivated by the encouraging talk of the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour and Advisor. The university ranker and college toppers were felicitated by them in front of the huge crowd. The Annual Day cultural presentation was based on various themes. It was a combination of songs, dances & skit related to the themes. St. John Junior College set the ball rolling on the theme “Road Accidents” that showed how today’s generation prefer speed and thrill at the cost of their lives. The theme “Apna Sapna Money Money” from St. John Institute of Pharmacy and Research portrayed the impact of demonetization on the common man in our country. The St. John College of Humanities and Sciences showcased the theme “Udaan” which gave a message that one can overcome difficulties / unhappiness in life and look for a better tomorrow. The St. John College of Engineering and Management performed on the theme “Filmania” which showed that entertainment is an integral part of or life. St. John Institute of Management and Research had the theme “Mumbai Diaries” which showcased the life in a metro and finally the theme “Drug Addiction” selected by St. John Polytechnic depicted how young generation get easily habituated to bad habits like drugs without realizing its harmful effect on them & their family. The audience was truly engrossed throughout the function by the energetic and enchanting performances of the students. The programme was ably compered by students Mr. Mithil Amin (MMS) & Ms. Sabiya Shaikh (SJCEM). The vote of thanks was given by student Ms. Vevona Fernandes (SJIPR).

Industrial Visit Nashik

Industrial Visit – Nashik Students of S.Y. and T.Y. Hospitality Studies, St. John College of Humanities & Sciences were taken to Wine Information Centre, Nashik for the Industrial Visit. The objective of this Industrial Visit was to learn and gain the practical knowledge of wine making process. Transportation (bus) was arranged for them from the Palghar station where they gathered at 6 a.m. All the students seemed excited for the trip to Nashik as the weather too was very pleasant. The bus left at 6.15 a.m from the Palghar station and had a halt at a small restaurant for the breakfast at 09.30 a.m. All the students and faculty had breakfast and the journey continued thereafter. The bus reached the destination, students were served with their lunch in the way, which had typical Maharashtrian cuisine with all the spiciness and delicacy. After the lunch, students left for the vineyard and winery visit where they examined the entire process of “Farming to Bottling’. This was the first ever that the students witnessed the process of wine making practically. After the winery visit all students reached to the WIC, Wine Information Center, students had a good rest and were ready for a seminar and wine testing session was arranged where they tested white wine, red wine and sparkling wine. The session was very interacting as their querries and questions were answered. Later, students were allowed to settle in their camp and get freshen up. In the evening, the dinner were arranged for the students. After dinner, the students proceeded to their camp for the rest. The next day, after the breakfast, students left the WIC to go back to Palghar. The bus reached the Palghar in the evening and the students headed back home. The trip to Nashik vineyard is a memorable experience for all the students as they could experience wine making process live and taught them a lot of things.

Science Fest 2016 Science Fest – “A journey from Science to Innovative Technology” is an annual 2-days event organized every year on 25th and 26th January at St. John Technical and Educational Campus. Science Festaims at introducing young students to a scientific environment and inculcating in them a desire to seek additional knowledge and skills in areas of their interest. Students of all Institutes within the campus showcase and demonstrate their innovative projects and ideas. Some of the projects exhibited by students of St. John College of Engineering and Technology were –Smart city model, Smart Road Control, Automatic Irrigation of plants, Web Cam based Face Detection, Electricity Generation from Salt-water, Roof Ventilator Wind Turbine, etc. The students from St. John Institute of Pharmacy and Research displayed projects like –Organic Planting (Terrace Farming), Extraction of DNA, Renal Revitalization, Safe Use of Opthalmic Preparation, etc. The stalls put up by the students of St. John Institute of Management and Research were Career guidance, NSS centre, Games stalls, Management Infoline and Warliproducts. Some of the projects showcased by the students of St. John College of Humanities and Sciences were – Tsunami Indicator, Working of stock exchange, Flower arrangements. The Hospitality students had prepared delicious food items as a part of Food Court stalls. All Institutes on the campus including St. John International School and Aldel Tutorial Academy had their own Career Guidance stall to counsel and guide the students / parents on numerous possibilities available for higher education / career and thereby ensure a good and bright future. Science Fest also provides a platform to students of other schools and colleges in the belt of Vasai to Valsad, to exhibit their projects / talent / creativity through theme based competitions. The theme for Science Fest 2016 was “Science, Society & Environment”. The topic for inter-school level competition was “Health, Nutrition and cleanliness”. The inter-college junior and senior level competitions had the topics “Nurture Nature” and “Erase Your E-Waste” respectively. A total number of 19 schools and 3 junior college participated in the competition. The Chief Guest was Ms. SharadaRaut (IPS) – Superintendent of Police, Palghar District, who inaugurated the event and addressed the participants. The Chairman of Aldel Education Trust, Mr. Albert W. D’Souza welcomed the Chief Guest, Principals of the various Institutes on the campus and all participants. Simultaneously, St. John Institute of Management and Research had organized inter-collegiateseminar “Srijan” based on the theme “Sustainable Development – Save the Environment, Save the World.” Total 20 teams represented their colleges in poster making and presentation competition on topic “Environmental Sustainability – A Road to Sustainable Development.” Mr. NeerajPurohit, General Manager and MR of Gini Silk Mills P. Ltd. was the key note speaker. As a part of Science Fest, St. John College of Humanities and Sciences had arranged “Enthusia – The Youth Fest”, a cultural fest comprising of various inter-collegiate competitions like singing, group dance, skit, bio-rangoli, etc.  All the winners were felicitated by the Chief Guest with trophies, cash prize and certificates whereas all the participants were given certificates. The Science fest 2016 was truly a crowd pulling event as about 4000 people visited the campus and had an enriching experience of the different events under the umbrella of Science Fest. The entire campus was abuzz with activities for these two days.

Graduation Ceremony 2016

Graduation Ceremony 2016 Graduation Day is the most awaited moment in a student’s life. It’s a combination of celebration, farewell and a new beginning. It is warm memories of the past and big dreams of the future. Graduation is the first step on the ladder of success. St. John Technical Campus held its 4th Graduation ceremony on 19th January 2016. Bishop Emeritus Ignatius Menezes, Diocese of Ajmer presided over the function. Mr. Albert W. D’Souza (Chairman of Aldel Education Trust), Mrs. Elvina D’Souza (Secretary), Dr. S. Krishnamoorthy (Campus Advisor), Mr. Thomas Lobo (Campus Director), Fr. John Rumao (Campus Minister), Dr. Satish Takalikar (Principal of St. John College of Engineering and Technology), Dr. Savita Tauro (Principal of St. John Institute of Pharmacy and Research) and Dr. Anil Kumar Chaudhary (Principal of St. John College of Humanities and Sciences) were the dignitaries on the dais. The Chairman welcomed the President and addressed the gathering. The President, Advisor and Director motivated the 315 students with their inspirational inputs. It was a proud moment for St. John as we had two University rankers. Mr. Viral Gala of Civil Engineering who bagged the Gold Medal from the University and Mr. Krishnakumar Yadav of B.Pharm who stood second in the University. The college also felicitated them. The toppers lead the groups to collect their respective graduation certificates. The St. Johannite family and the parents were proud to see their graduates in black gowns and the graduation caps. One graduate from each Institute (Ms. Cidelle Mascarenhas, Mr. Krishnakumar Yadav, Ms. Shraddha Bhongle), shared the experience and reminiscence of the time spent at St. John. All the Graduates were thrilled to interact with their faculty, mentors and peers. They were also interested to be involved with St. John in future in the form of Alumni. Finally the programme came to an end with the photo sessions which will serve the graduates as one of the everlasting memoirs.
