A Webinar On The Topic ‘Binge Watching And Its Effect On Health’​

a webinar on the topic ‘binge watching and its effect on health’​ An informative webinar session for the students of St. John College of Humanities and Sciences (SJCHS) was organized by the Department of Arts, SJCHS on the topic ‘Binge watching and its effect on health’ scheduled on 28th February 2022 at 11.10 a.m. in its endeavors to empower the students with the effects of binge watching and the benefits of controlled watching of audio visual content. The session was conducted by Mr. Tanmay Joshi (Asst. Prof.- Psychology, REBT Therapist, psychologist). The webinar was started by Mr. Saurabh Chavan, Asst. Prof. (Psychology), Dept. of Arts, SJCHS who introduced the speaker to the students. This intriguing session was attended by around 90 students and teachers. The speaker started with an introduction to binge watching. He explained to the audience the effect on cognitive decline due to binge watching. He elaborated on a case study based on binge watching explaining a student who got addicted to watching porn series and movies and how it impacted his life negatively. The speaker talked about some quick facts related to binge watching in which it was found that 61% of the audience on netflix watch 2-6 episodes in one single sitting. Other such facts were also discussed. Later, the speaker enlightened the audience with the effect on social isolation due to binge watching. He also talked about the average required screen time and the screen time which usually binge watchers have. Behavioral addictions related to binge watching were also discussed briefly. Then the speaker spoke about some takeaway points which can help students to control binge watching. Finally, Mr. Saurabh Chavan expressed his gratitude and vote of thanks towards the Speaker for conducting such an enriching session. He further thanked the Management, Principal of the college Dr. Brajabandhu Das and HOD (Dept. of Arts)- Dr. Ravi Mishra for their exemplary efforts in providing such platforms to the Teachers and the Students and helping them increase their knowledge on binge watching and its effect on health. A Webinar On The Topic ‘Economics In Everyday Life’​

a webinar on the topic ‘economics in everyday life’​ An interesting webinar session for the students of St. John College of Humanities and Sciences (SJCHS) was organised by the Department of Arts, SJCHS on the topic ‘Economics in Everyday Life’ scheduled on 14th February 2022 at 11.10 a.m. in its endeavours to empower the students with the Economic concepts that they use in everyday life but unaware about it or don’t know how to use them . The session was conducted by Ms. Melista Rodrigues (Asst. Prof. of Economics),Dept. of Arts, SJCHS. The webinar was started by Mr. Saurabh Chavan, Asst. Prof. (Psychology), Dept. of Arts, SJCHS who introduced the speaker to the students. This intriguing session was attended by around 86 students and teachers. The speaker started with an introduction to uses of economics in everyday life. She explained to the audience the concepts of economics. She elaborated on the concepts such as opportunity costs, consumer surplus, Diminishing marginal utility and so on. The concepts were explained with the help of examples of real life. The speaker talked about some everyday market situations and explained how people used these concepts unknowingly. Later, the speaker enlightened the audience by giving them a practical market situation and asking them their reaction to it and further asking them which concept they have used for the same. Finally, Mr. Saurabh Chavan expressed his gratitude and vote of thanks towards the Speaker for conducting such an enriching session. He further thanked the Management, Principal of the college Dr. Brajabandhu Das and HOD (Dept. of Arts)- Dr. Ravi Mishra for their exemplary efforts in providing such platforms to the Teachers and the Students and helping them increase their knowledge related to economic concepts. Webinar on “Non Verbal Communication”

Webinar on “Non Verbal Communication” A webinar entitled Non Verbal Communication was conducted for the students of FY/SY/TY across all branches of St. John college of Humanities and Sciences, Palghar, Maharashtra. The objective of the session was to make students aware about the non verbal signs and their impact on communication.The guest speaker almost covered all the essential elements of non verbal communication. He shared the daily life examples which made the session more practical and useful. Eighteen students attended the session. Outcome- • The session made the students aware about the relevance of non verbal signs in communication • The students understood all the essential elements in non verbal communication

A Webinar on “Front Office Operations”.

A Webinar on “Front Office Operations”. The Department of B.Sc. (Hospitality Studies) of St. John College of Humanities and Sciences, Palghar, had organized a guest lecture on Rooms Division Management “Front Office Operations” in the current hospitality industry. Students of First Year and Third Year of Hospitality Studies attended the webinar. Total 45 students attended the webinar. The webinar commenced with the introduction of Ms. Sonya Mane, Key account Manager, Toothsi Aligner Company, Mumbai by Ms. Prachi Patil. The motive behind conducting this webinar was to introduce the basic departmental work of the front office department and career opportunities for students. The webinar started with a keynote on PMS (Property Management System). Ms. Mane shared her valuable experience and gave guidance about growth in front office department.The session was concluded with vote of thanks by Ms.Prachi Patil.

Report on The Webinar Session on The Topic ‘MINDFULNESS AND MENTAL HEALTH’ ’The key to well-being is to become aware of ourselves and take proper decisions’ An exclusive webinar session for the students of St. John College of Humanities and Sciences (SJCHS) was organised by the Department of Arts, SJCHS on the topic ‘Mindfulness and Mental Health’ scheduled on 10th January 2022 at 11.10 a.m. in its endeavours to empower the students with advantages of practicing mindfulness regularly and its impact on mental health. The session was conducted by Mr. Saurabh Chavan, Asst. Prof. (Psychology) Dept. of Arts, SJCHS. The was started by Ms. Melissta Rodrigues, Asst. Prof. (Economics), Dept. of Arts, SJCHS who introduced the speaker to the students. This intriguing session was attended by around 100 students and teachers. The speaker started with an activity in which the participants had to get aware about the surroundings around them. He then explained how being aware in the present moment can cut our association with the negative thoughts related to the past and anxious expectations of the future which can further lead to experiencing the present moment with full awareness. Further he explained what mindfulness really means and explained it with a couple of examples. He also mentioned the various benefits of practicing mindfulness. Lastly he conducted a guided meditation activity on mindfulness and helped the students to get a practical approach of practicing mindfulness in day to day life. Finally, Ms. Melissta Rodrigues expressed her gratitude and vote of thanks towards the Speaker for conducting such an enriching session. She further thanked the Management, Principal of the college Dr. Brajabandhu Das and HOD (Dept. of Arts)- Dr. Ravi Mishra for their exemplary efforts in providing such platforms to the Teachers and the Students and helping them increase their knowledge on mindfulness and mental health.
