Group Discussion and Debate held in a Student Exchange Program

A session on Group Discussion and Debate was successfully conducted on 15th January 2026 under the MoU between St. John College of Humanities and Sciences, Autonomous, Palghar and St. Agnes College, Mangaluru, Autonomous. The programme was organized and conducted by St. John College of Humanities and Sciences from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM. The session was conducted by Dr. Vijay Songire and Ms. Lithiya Subranaiam. It began with a comprehensive briefing on Group Discussions and Debates and their relevance in jobs, interviews, and professional communication. To make the session more interactive and practical, activities such as ice-breakers, story-forming exercises, and “Up and Down” cup activities were conducted. These activities helped students understand the importance of team building, creativity, coordination, and problem-solving skills. An engaging debate round followed the activity-based learning. A total of 35 students actively participated in the programme. After evaluation, one group consisting of six participants was declared as best performers and awarded certificates of appreciation. The session concluded with a feedback round. Students shared positive feedback, appreciating the experiential learning methods. They found the session motivating, skill-oriented, and highly beneficial. Overall, the programme was a successful and enriching academic initiative.

Workshop on Warli Painting

On January 14th, 2026, Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension (DLLE) in collaboration with the NSS Unit and IQAC of St. John College of Humanities and Sciences (Autonomous) organized a Warli Painting Workshop for registered DLLE students and 6 student exchange participants from St. Agnes College, Mangalore. The workshop was conducted by DLLE coordinator Ms. Vaishnavi Sankhe and NSS Coordinator Mr. Ameer Shaikh at Classroom No. 13, 5th Floor, SJCHS, with the objective of promoting cultural awareness and appreciation of Maharashtra’s indigenous tribal art forms. A total 47 participants attended this workshop.
