SJCHS Hosts Aavishkar Orientation Workshop for Zone VI

St. John College of Humanities and Sciences (Autonomous), Palghar, in collaboration with the Department of Students’ Development, University of Mumbai, successfully organized the 21st Aavishkar Inter-Collegiate/Institute/Department Research Convention (2026–27) Orientation Workshop for Teacher Coordinators and Teacher Mentors of Zone VI, Palghar. The workshop was attended by 65 participants.

The inaugural session, coordinated by Dr. Namrata Jha, featured the felicitation of resource persons Dr. Sunil Patil, Director, Department of Students’ Development, University of Mumbai; Dr. Minakshi Gurav, Officer on Special Duty (OSD), University of Mumbai; Dr. Sunita Shailajan; and Dr. Sasikumar Menon. Dr. Sunil Patil inaugurated the workshop and highlighted the importance of fostering a strong research culture through effective faculty mentorship. The inaugural vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Deepa Verma.

The technical sessions covered research proposal preparation, Aavishkar guidelines, research mentoring, teamwork, academic integrity, and strategies for developing a research-oriented ecosystem. Participants also worked in groups to analyse research proposals, identify research gaps, present their ideas, and receive expert feedback from the resource persons.

During the valedictory programme, certificates were distributed to all participants. Dr. Deepa Verma, District Coordinator, proposed the vote of thanks. Dr. Muktha M. Jacob, Principal, congratulated the participants and appreciated the organizing committee for the successful conduct of the workshop. Sr. Renita D’Souza, Head Administrator, ensured smooth administrative coordination with the support of the non-teaching staff. The workshop concluded with a group photograph, successfully strengthening the participants’ ability to mentor students and promote research excellence.
