Disaster Management Workshop

Total Participants: 200 Volunteers (NSS and Non NSS Volunteers)
St. John Technical Campus – NSS Units, St. John College of Engineering and Management, St. John Institute of Pharmacy and Research, St. John College of Humanities and Sciences, NSS Units in Association with Disaster Management Cell, Collector office Palghar District, and National Disaster Response Force, Pune (NDRF) took an initiative to create an awareness about Natural and Man made Disasters and Security to be taken by all faculty Members and students.
Honourable Dr. Kailash Shinde – The Collector of Palghar District was the Chief Guest for this event. Dr. Savita Tauro (Deputy Campus Director of St. John Technical campus and Principal of St. John Institute of Pharmacy and Research, Palghar) presented a bouquet to Dr. Shinde as a token of welcome, love and gratitude. The program was also graced by Mr. Sanjay Jadhav (Residential Deputy Collector, Palghar District), Mr. Vivekanand Kadam (Disaster Management officer, Palghar District), Mr. Ajay Kumar Sharma (NDRF, Sub-Inspector, Pune. The Management of Aldel Education Trust and the Principal of various Institutes and NDRF staff of Pune District were also present to grace this event.
The Introductory speech was given by Ms.Pankti Shah (NSS Volunteer of SJCHS). She also welcomed the Guests and other Dignitaries. At the outset, all participants and officers took oath and paid tribute of Latur Disaster which took place on 30th Sept 1993. The Honourable Chief Guest Dr. Kailash Shinde briefed the details of Disaster and major role of youth generation and the role of the institute in the awareness of Disaster Management. He also appealed to all NSS Volunteers to take training and Practical demonstration on Disaster management by NDRF Team. Even he appealed NSS Volunteers to vote in Nation’s election assembly. Later on, NDRF Team guided some practical tips of Natural and Man Made Disaster Management. They offered practical demonstration on training of First Aid, CPR methods, Rescue during floods, Building collapse situation how to save your lives and others also.
The Seminar was coordinated by Mr. K. K. Shetty (General Manager- St. John Technical Campus) and NSS Unit of the Campus.
A vote of thanks was proposed by V.R. Patil (HR Manager, St. John Technical Campus, Palghar). The seminar was concluded successfully with a Theme: “Save life of Yours and others”.
