Webinar on “A Journey in Front Office” The Department of B.Sc. (Hospitality Studies) of St. John College of Humanities and Sciences, Palghar had organised a webinar on A Journey in Front Office by Mr. Puneet Oberoi, assistant vice president at Prudent Insurance Brokers Pvt Ltd . Students of First Year, Second Year and Third Year of Hospitality Studies attended the webinar. The webinar commenced with the introduction of Mr Puneet Oberoi, Mr. Nelson Pereira. The motive behind conducting this webinar was to understand various career opportunities in the front office department . He shared his experiences with the students and talked about various career options. At the end of the session we had question answer session, where Mr. Puneet Oberoi cleared students doubts. The session end with the Thank you speech by Mr.Nelson Pereira.

Report on “Alumni Talk”

Report on “Alumni Talk” On May 29, 2021, the Department of Information Technology had a “Alumni Talk” for first, second, and final year students. A total of 83 students attended this outstanding session to get answers to their questions about placements, further education, certification courses, etc. Ms. Vibhuti Sane (TPO, IT Dept.) welcomed the Alumni Guests to the session, and Mr. Mahesh Rane (Assistant Professor) introduced the first session’s guest, Mr. Pradeep Bharadwaj, Software Engineer in Larsen & Toubro, Airoli. Mr. Bharadwaj discussed the importance of placement and answered questions on the 2–5 year corporate bond. He advised the students to concentrate on their final year project because it accounts for 40 to 60 % of the interview. He clarified several fundamental issues on the Aptitude, Group Discussion, Technical (1 or 2), and HR rounds, and advised students to improve their abilities by obtaining certification or acquiring a higher degree. He also said that Testing and developing test cases, as well as having a firm grasp on one subject is essential. He taught the participants about the degrees offered by renowned IT companies, as well as the significance of the company’s training time (also called as honeymoon period). He also answered students’ questions on employment stability, job change, and pay hike and recommending them to focus on the company’s position rather than the remuneration package for a strong start. Ms. Fiza Shaikh, Internal IT Engg. at TCS, Mumbai, led the following session. She discussed the significance of college placement and stated that finding a job at a company by ourselves is 2-3 times more difficult. She emphasised the need of strong communication skills and advised that they be improved by visiting YouTube channels. She said to concentrate on B.Sc. programme’s syllabus that included everything needed in the IT field, as well as improving verbal abilities, which are essential for being presentable and professional. Mr. Daniel Miranda, Analyst/Software Engg. in Capgemini, Mumbai, has been introduced as the third session’s guest by Ms. Mrunal Bhoir (Assistant Professor). He shared his few interview experiences with the attendees and advised them to be prepared for questions on mathematical and quantitative aptitude. He attempted to relieve the student’s anxiety related to the company’s bond and have shared a few fundamental questions that are asked in every interview and explained how to appropriately cover the responses. The next session began with a presentation by Mr. Prashant Saini, Associate Analyst at Deloitte Mumbai. He spoke about the hiring procedures and provided some resources for preparing for the aptitude and technical rounds. He also touched on what topics should be prepared for both quantitative and verbal abilities and enlightened the participants on the recruiter’s expectations, resume structure, and the significance of LinkedIn and GitHub profiles. He also explained how to attain our goal using the STAR (Situation Task Action Results) approach. Ms. Vibhuti Sane gave a vote of gratitude after the session closed with a Q&A round in which all of the participants were able to express their questions, which were all effectively answered by our guests’ speakers. Report on “National Online Conference”

Report on “National Online Conference” A National Online Conference was organized by St. John College of Humanities & Sciences on 23/4/2021. Total 52 individuals attended the Conference and 26 Research papers were received. Out of 26 Research papers, 15 Research papers were contributed from other college Faculties/ Research Scholars including other states.The Research papers were presented in Eight technical sessions. The Conference begun with the Aldel Trust’s campus prayer, followed by sarasvati vandana. Welcome note was given by respected Principal of SJCHS Dr. Brajabandhu Das. The Convener of Conference Dr. Upma Paliwal gave introduction of Key note speaker – Dr. kanchan Bhatia. Dr. Kanchan Bhatia, author of four Books in HRM stream, working on the post of Professor in Department of MBA, Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication. Total eight research papers were presented in the Two technical sessions out of which four research papers were presented in the first half of the Conference and and the remaining four were presented Post lunch break. Dr. Vijay Songire and Dr. ravi Mishra did the Comparing. Mrs. Utpala Amin summarized the Session. The guest of Honor Dr. Srishti Umekar- Director of NGO- Sharan delivered the speech.
