Inaugural Function of Literary Club 2018-19

“Progressing lies not in enhancing what is, but enhancing towards what will be.” -Khalil Gibran

St John College of Humanities and Sciences is committed to achieving a pluralistic community and the efforts are always channelised towards reaching and raising the students to reach their pinnacle of glory.

To develop and widen this learning horizon, SJCHS inaugurated its new club ‘The Literary club’ to give students opportunities to liberate their thoughts and develop skills to speak their minds in different ways. It aims to give a new dimension to the world of literature, bringing out thinkers out of tech-maniacs.

The chief guest, Dr C.C. Patil in his motivational and inspiring speech emphasized that the club activities helps us to be more creative and innovative. It gives scope for good social life by making us self confident. It not only keeps us united but gives us learning experience from others too. He also encouraged that the members of the club should conduct as many activities as possible to keep the club lively and ever on the roll. The Guest of honour Sister Hilda graced the occasion with her kind presence and blessings.

The inauguration of the club was planned on the International Mother Language Day. Students paid obeisance to their mother language by reciting the verses of the rich literary works of great poets like Rabindranath Tagore, Galib, Harivanshrai Bachan, Sant Tukaram to name a few. A presentation was also done on ‘The Importance of English language in the Globalised World.’ This endeavour of SJCHS has brought the student fraternity to unite and work towards the future activities like Talk by a journalist, JAM Session, magazine cover designing, TED talk etc. which are scheduled for the month of March and April. ‘Well begun is half done’.
