The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) organized a webinar titled “Generative AI for Academics” on Thursday, 14th August 2025, at 12:00 noon. The session was conducted in the Event Hall and also made accessible through Google Meet, ensuring participation from on-campus attendees. The distinguished speaker for the event was Dr. Anupama Jawle, Head of the Department of Information Technology at Narsee Monjee College of Commerce & Economics (Autonomous) – Empowered Status.

Dr. Jawle delivered an insightful session on the role of Generative AI in transforming education technology, emphasizing its milestones and rapid developments. She explained how AI-powered tools are reshaping teaching, learning, and research by enhancing creativity, productivity, and problem-solving. The discussion highlighted various state-of-the-art generative AI platforms such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Canva, Napkin Notebook LM, MagicSchool, Gaston.live, Google AI Studio, and PowerDrill AI. Each tool was explained in terms of its academic relevance, ranging from content generation, lesson planning, and visual design to interactive learning and research assistance.

The session underscored the importance of adopting generative AI responsibly in academia while addressing challenges like ethical use, accuracy, and the need for critical thinking. Participants gained valuable insights into practical applications of AI for enhancing student engagement, supporting faculty in curriculum design, and streamlining academic processes. Overall, the webinar was highly informative, encouraging educators and students to explore the potential of generative AI as a powerful ally in the future of education.
