SJCHS Organises Article Writing & Poetry Competition

The Media and Magazine Committee of St. John College of Humanities and Sciences organised an Article Writing & Poetry Competition on 21st August 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, in Classrooms 1 and 2 of the SJCHS building. The competition provided students with a platform to showcase their creativity, imagination, ideas and literary talents in English, Hindi and Marathi.

The event witnessed an enthusiastic participation of 46 students, with 18 students participating in Article Writing and 28 students in Poetry. Sister Renita D’Souza graced the occasion as the dignitary and encouraged the participants.

The Poetry Competition was judged by Asst. Prof. Sakshi Mogre, while the Article Writing Competition was judged by Asst. Prof. Dr. Vijay Songire. The entries were evaluated on creativity, originality, expression, language, relevance, organisation and overall presentation.

In the Article Writing Competition, Aishwarya Jadhav (TYIT) secured 1st Rank, while Prachi Singh (FYCS) secured 2nd Rank. In the Poetry Competition, Shravan Mali (TYHS) secured 1st Rank, followed by Nikita Sharma (TYBAF) in 2nd Rank.

Certificates were provided to the participants and winners. Selected articles and poems were also proposed for publication in the college magazine, providing students with an opportunity to showcase their literary work to a wider audience. The competition successfully promoted creative thinking, literary expression, confidence, effective communication and active participation in co-curricular activities.
