National Level Interdisciplinary Conference Held
Conference on Computing Beyond Boundaries: Integrating Technology with Every Discipline
The Interdisciplinary Conference titled “Computing Beyond Boundaries: Integrating Technology with Every Discipline” was conducted on 16th March 2026. The conference was organised on 17 March 2026 at SJCHS Event Hall by the IQAC and the Department of Technology and Computing of St. John College of Humanities and Sciences Autonomous, Palghar with the objective of promoting interdisciplinary research and highlighting the transformative role of computing technologies across various domains in alignment with the vision of Viksit Bharat @ 2047.
The conference was inaugurated at 10:00 AM with a welcome note by the compere, followed by the National Anthem and Campus Anthem. The session proceeded with Saraswati Vandana and the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolizing the pursuit of knowledge. A welcome dance performance added cultural vibrancy to the occasion. Dr. Muktha Manoj Jacob, Principal of the college, delivered the welcome address, extending greetings to all dignitaries, participants, and attendees. This was followed by an address by Mr. Aldridge D’Souza, Member of Aldel Education Trust. Dr. Sangita Dubey, Convener of the conference, presented the concept note, highlighting the significance of integrating computing with various disciplines.
The dignitaries present for the inaugural session included Mrs. Elvina D’Souza (Secretary, Aldel Education Trust), Mrs. Elaine D’Souza Buthello (Treasurer, Aldel Education Trust), Mr. Aldridge D’Souza (Member, Aldel Education Trust), Dr. Evans Coutinho (Dean–Research,St. John Technical and Educational Campus), Dr. Savita Tauro (Dean–Academics and Principal, St. John Institute of Pharmacy and Research Autonomous), and Mr. Charles Pais (Campus Examination Co-ordinator). The Chief Guest, Mr. Shashank Bajpai, Cybersecurity Evangelist, and the Keynote Speaker, Mrs. Nilangi Patil, Director – Software Product Development, were felicitated during the session. A significant highlight of the event was the release of the Book of Abstracts with an ISBN number in the presence of dignitaries. The Chief Guest then delivered an insightful address, followed by a tea break. Post tea break, the Keynote Speaker shared her expert insights on emerging technological trends. The inaugural session concluded with a vote of thanks by Mrs. Trupti Bidaye, Head of Department (IT & CS) followed by a brief introduction to the technical sessions and a lunch break by the compere.
The technical sessions commenced in the post-lunch session with parallel paper and poster presentations at 1:30 PM. The sessions were divided into three thematic tracks.
Track 1 on Emerging Technologies and Computer Science Applications, chaired by Dr. Sampada Deshmukh,Head of Department, PG-IT, New Viva College,Virar focused on advancements in artificial intelligence, machine learning, data analytics, and cybersecurity.
Track 2 on Computing in Education, Business, and Society, chaired by Dr. Nilesh Deotale,Head of Department- MCA,St. John College of Engineering and Management Autonomous, explored the role of computing in transforming education systems, business practices, and societal interactions.
Track 3 on Healthcare and Life Sciences through Computing, chaired by Mr. Rajesh Chouhan, Assistant Professor, Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute, Mumbai, emphasized the application of artificial intelligence, IoT, and predictive analytics in healthcare and environmental sustainability.
Alongside the paper presentations, a poster-making competition was conducted for students and judged by Dr. Jaydip Raval and Mr. Ajay Sirsat. The sessions witnessed enthusiastic participation and showcased innovative interdisciplinary research reflecting the essence of the conference theme .
The valedictory session commenced at 3:30 PM with the arrival of dignitaries in the event hall. The session was graced by Dr. Kamal Shah, Principal of St. John College of Engineering and Management Autonomous, as the Chief Guest, Mr. Rajesh Chouhan, Assistant Professor at Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute, Mumbai, as the Valedictory Addressee who also served as the Session Chairperson along with Dr. Jaydip Raval, Associate Professor, St. John College of Engineering and Management Autonomous, Mr. Ajay Sirsat , Assistant Professor, St. John College of Engineering and Management Autonomous, Dr. Nilesh Deotale , HOD-MCA, St. John College of Engineering and Management Autonomous, Dr. Sampada Deshmukh, HOD-PG IT, New Viva College, Virar and Dr. Evans Coutinho, Dean-Research, St. John Technical and Educational Campus. The program began with the introduction and felicitation of the guests. This was followed by the presentation of the conference report by Ms. Payal Save, Assistant Professor, highlighting the key proceedings and outcomes of the event. Dr. Ravi Shankar Mishra presented the faculty feedback on the conference, reflecting the academic and experiential value of the conference. Dr. Evans Coutinho, Dean–Research, addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary research and innovation. The session proceeded with the distribution of certificates to participants. The conference concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Pooja Mishra, Assistant Professor, marking the successful completion of the event .
The conference successfully provided a platform for knowledge exchange, innovation, and collaboration among academicians, researchers, and students. In total, 22 abstracts were selected and published in the abstract book. In the poster-making competition, a total of 23 groups participated, comprising 116 students reflecting creativity, collaboration, and active engagement among the participants. The conference effectively demonstrated how computing technologies are transforming diverse fields and contributing towards building a technologically advanced and interdisciplinary future.
