Our students Celebrated 16th National Voter’s Day at Collectors Office

Venue: Collector Office, Palghar
On the occasion of the 16th National Voters’ Day, a special awareness programme was organised at the Collector Office, Palghar on 23rd January 2026. The programme was conducted with the main motive of administering the oath of keeping the spirit of democracy alive, along with spreading awareness about voting rights and the importance of active participation in the democratic process, especially among new and young voters. A total of 31 students from St. John College of Humanities and Sciences attended the session as part of an educational visit. The programme began with a warm welcome of all dignitaries and guests, followed by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, symbolising knowledge, democracy, and civic responsibility. This was followed by the State Song of Maharashtra, which instilled a sense of pride and unity among the participants.
The programme continued with speeches by two students, highlighting the importance of voting rights, the responsibility of citizens, and the crucial role of youth in strengthening democracy. Their speeches inspired first-time voters to actively participate in elections. One of the major highlights of the event was the felicitation of Booth Level Officers (BLOS) and Sub-Divisional Revenue Officers who had performed commendable work in their respective areas. Officers from different parts of Palghar district, ranging from Dahanu to Nalasopara-Vasai, were honoured for their dedication to the electoral process. The programme also included the distribution of new Voter ID cards to a few newly registered voters, encouraging them to exercise their democratic rights. This was followed by the Voters’ Oath, where all participants pledged to uphold democratic values and keep the spirit of democracy alive by voting responsibly and ethically.
An informative address was delivered by Shri Bhausaheb Fatangare, who emphasized the importance of free and fair elections, voter awareness, and the responsibility of citizens in maintaining a strong democracy.
The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to all dignitaries, officials, organisers, and participants. The event ended on a patriotic note with the National Anthem.
