Background: On the occasion of World Tourism Day, our college organized a special celebration to raise awareness about sustainable tourism and its impact on the environment and society.The day began with an insightful session led by Mr. Jayesh Mharte, a respected resource person, who delivered a powerful speech on the importance of sustainable tourism practices and how the tourism industry can contribute to a greener future.Adding flavor to the celebration, TY students arranged five diverse cuisine stalls

Highlights of the Event: A keynote address was delivered by Mr. Jayesh Mharte, focusing on the theme of Sustainable Tourism. He emphasized the importance of eco-friendly travel, preserving local cultures, and tourism’s role in achieving sustainable development goals.First and Second Year students provided enthusiastic support in stall setup, service, and decoration, promoting teamwork and peer learning.Students, faculty, and guests engaged actively in the event, creating a vibrant and educational atmosphere.The event provided hands-on learning in hospitality, event management, culinary skills, and sustainable practices—beyond the classroom setting.The stalls celebrated cultural diversity and allowed students and visitors to experience global flavors, promoting cross-cultural appreciation.

Objective of the Event:
The primary objective of organizing the World Tourism Day Celebration at our college was to:
1. Promote Awareness about Sustainable Tourism:  To educate students on the importance of eco-friendly, ethical, and responsible tourism that benefits local communities and protects natural and cultural heritage.
2. Encourage Cultural Appreciation:  To showcase the diversity of global cultures through food and interactive experiences, fostering mutual respect and understanding among students.
3. Enhance Student Engagement through Practical Learning:  To provide students with hands-on experience in event planning, hospitality, culinary arts, and teamwork, complementing their classroom learning.
4. Develop Leadership and Organizational Skills:  To give students an opportunity to take the lead in organizing, managing, and executing a large-scale event, thereby strengthening their leadership, collaboration, and communication skills.
5. Celebrate the Role of Tourism in Global Development:  To recognize tourism as a powerful tool for economic growth, social inclusion, and environmental preservation, aligned with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Details of Participants: The World Tourism Day Celebration witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, and special guests. The event brought together individuals from various departments, fostering a spirit of collaboration, cultural appreciation, and practical learning.
● Third Year (TY) Students
○ Took the lead in organizing and managing the five international cuisine stalls (Italian, Indian, Oriental, Mexican, Mocktails & Bakery).
○ Responsible for menu planning, preparation, presentation, and customer service.
○ Applied their academic learning in a real-world setting.
● First Year (FY) and Second Year (SY) Students
○ Actively supported the event logistics including stall setup, decoration, serving assistance, and crowd management.
○ Gained exposure to event execution and hospitality operations.

 Guest Speaker
● Mr. Jayesh Mharte – Industry expert and sustainability advocate, invited as the chief guest and resource person.
○ Delivered a keynote address on the theme: “Sustainable Tourism: Building a Better Future”.
○ Shared real-world insights and engaged students in an interactive Q&A session.
● Faculty members from the Hospitality and Tourism Department coordinated the event and mentored students throughout the planning and execution phases.
● Non-teaching staff assisted with event setup and logistics.

Conduct of the Event: The World Tourism Day Celebration was conducted in a structured and engaging manner, ensuring both educational value and student participation. The event was held on September 26, 2025, at the college campus, under the guidance of faculty members from the Hospitality and Tourism Department.
● The event began with a formal inauguration ceremony in the morning.
● Faculty members welcomed the chief guest Mr. Jayesh Mharte, students, and attendees.
● The program commenced with a brief introduction on the significance of World Tourism Day.
● Mr. Mharte delivered a keynote session on the theme: “Sustainable Tourism: Building a Better Future.”
● He spoke about the role of tourism in environmental conservation, local community empowerment, and global awareness.
● The session concluded with a Q&A segment, where students asked insightful questions.

After the speech, the event moved to the open area where TY students had set up five themed food stalls, representing:
○ Italian Cuisine /Indian Cuisine/Oriental Cuisine/Mexican Cuisine

Mocktails & Bakery Stall
● The stalls were beautifully decorated to reflect the culture of each region.
● Visitors (students, faculty, and guests) experienced a variety of international flavors and food presentations.
● FY and SY students assisted with stall setup, food service, and managing the crowd.
● Their involvement contributed to the smooth conduct of the event and helped build inter-year collaboration.
● A photography corner captured the moments of the event.
● Feedback was collected from participants and faculty, who appreciated the educational and cultural value of the celebration.


Outcome/Feedback:  The World Tourism Day Celebration was a resounding success, achieving its objectives of promoting sustainable tourism and cultural awareness. Students gained valuable hands-on experience in event management, culinary presentation, and teamwork. The guest session by Mr. Jayesh Mharte was highly appreciated for its practical insights on sustainable tourism.Feedback from faculty and students was overwhelmingly positive, highlighting the event as educational, engaging, and well-organized. The collaborative effort between TY, SY, and FY students fostered a strong sense of unity and experiential learning.

Best-Liked Part of the Event: The most appreciated part of the event was the Multi-Cuisine Food Stalls organized by the TY students. Attendees enjoyed exploring a variety of global cuisines—Italian, Indian, Oriental, Mexican, and Mocktails/Bakery—which showcased culinary creativity and cultural diversity. The vibrant setup, authentic flavors, and enthusiastic student participation made this segment both interactive and memorable.Many also praised the guest session by Mr. Jayesh Mharte for being informative and inspiring, especially his emphasis on real-life practices in sustainable tourism.

Conclusion: The celebration of World Tourism Day on 26th September was a memorable and enriching experience for everyone involved. We were honored to have Mr. Jayesh Mahrate as our guest speaker, whose insightful address added great value to the event and inspired students to explore the vast potential of the tourism industry.A special thanks goes to the TY students for their outstanding efforts in planning and organizing the thematic stalls, which beautifully showcased different cultures and tourist destinations. We also appreciate the enthusiastic support and participation of the SY and FY students, whose teamwork and assistance contributed greatly to the smooth execution of the event.Overall, the event not only promoted awareness about the importance of tourism but also fostered creativity, collaboration, and cultural appreciation among students. We look forward to organizing more such engaging events in the future.
