Webinar on International Mother Language Day
Literary Club organised a Webinar on “International Mother Language Day” on 2Oth February 2021 from 12 pm to 1 pm. International Mother Language Day is observed worldwide on 21 February to promote awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity and to promote multilingualism. he idea to celebrate International Mother Language Day was the initiative of Bangladesh. It was approved at the 1999 UNESCO General Conference and has been observed throughout the world since 2000. The theme set by UNESCO of the 2021 International Mother Language Day, “Fostering multilingualism for inclusion in education and society,” recognizes that languages and multilingualism can advance inclusion, and the Sustainable Development Goals’ focus on leaving no one behind. The session began with Ms. Sarah Roy, Co-ordinator of Literary Club welcoming the participants and introducing the resource person.
The guest speaker was Ms. Elena Sajan, faculty of St. Thomas College, Ranni in Kerala. The session was attended by students of various departments of the college and received a positive response. The total participants were 110. The session was attended by participants in Google Meet and YouTube Live. The session ended with the Vote of Thanks by Dr. Vijay Songire.
