St. John Technical and Educational Campus SJCHS, SJCEM, SJIPR NSS units Palghar organized – “ Virtual Awareness Session on Cancer Prevention & Healthy Life Style on the Occasion of World Cancer Day from 4: 00 pm to 5:00 pm through online mode with active participation of NSS volunteers. The Introductory speech was given by Ms. Diana Fernandes (NSS Volunteers)

The Objective of this session was to spread awareness among students about Common Cancer, Symptoms, Preventive measures, risk factor of cancer. And same information will be replicated by NSS Volunteers in the community outreach programmes.

Ms. Sumki Begum – Programme Co-ordinator Outreach and Counselor Sanjeevani Life beyond cancer, Mumbai was the resource person for the event. Sanjeevani – Life beyond cancer, NGO Mumbai works for the prevention awareness programme for Cancer patients, Awareness session for college students. She gave information about Cancer awareness. Three aspects of Awareness, i.e Probability of getting cancer, Early Detection, Thought process etc.
She also explained about nutrition and diets, Risk factors of Cancer, Different types of cancer and its symptoms and causes, Basic Do’s and Dont’s to the NSS volunteers while dealing with Cancer patients.

Total 79 NSS Volunteers registered for online awareness programme and many students participated online on youtube stream. The programme was very much informative and societal concern. St. John technical and Educational campus always encourage students for community outreach programmes. Its not only creating changes within students but also its develop social awareness among the people within community. Volunteers are always keen interested to attend such events which help them to create value towards society as a unique and responsible citizens.
