The Greenovation Green Club of St John College of Humanities and Sciences has hosted a “Trash to Treasure” competition on 24 October 2024 on the occasion of the International Day of Climate Change. The event aimed to raise awareness about plastic waste reduction by encouraging students to repurpose old materials into cloth bags
Students of St John College of Humanities and Sciences were invited to create cloth bags from old clothes or fabric, 23 students have participated in the event. The bags were judged on creativity, functionality, and the use of recycled materials. To ensure fair judgment, Ms. Siena Dbritto and Ms. Roshal Crasta were appointed as judges. Afterward, the bags were donated to staff members for daily use, encouraging the reduction of plastic.

- Community: Strengthened community spirit through the donation of bags to staff.
- Sustainability: Promoted the use of reusable bags and helped reduce plastic consumption on campus.
The event was well-received and is planned to become an annual initiative, with hopes to involve more students and expand its impact.
