A Two Days Inter School & Inter Collegiate event Sphoorti with the tag line Unleash Your Potential, was conducted on 20th and 21st September 2024 in collaboration by the Arts and Commerce department of St. John College of Humanities and Sciences, Palghar. The objectives of the event were to give exposure to students’ extra curricular activities. Most importantly, the event was conducted for two days where in total there were 17 different activities. For each activity there was a teacher as well as student coordinator.

The inaugural session was on the very first day which started at 10:00am. The chief guest for the program was Mrs. Elvina D’ Souza, the Secretary of Aldel Education Trust. The other guests, Mrs. Elaine Buthello, Mrs. Suchita Gharat, Ms. Sister Veena Montero and the faculty across all other departments were also present. The principal of St. John College of Humanities and Sciences Dr. Muktha M. Jacob felicitated the Chief Guest Mrs. Elvina D’ Souza. Later, the college prayer and Saraswati Vandana were played. After the prayer, the principal addressed the students and told them about the event briefly. She requested the Chief Guest Mrs. Elaine Buthello to share her thoughts. Mrs. Elaine Buthello delivered a short speech in which she emphasised the importance of events like Sphoorti and other extra curricular activities. And then she declared the event as open to all students.

On the first day there were 11 different activities such as: Freeze Dance, AD making, Trash to Treasure Challenge, Doodle Art, Mehendi, Photography, Poetry/Slam, Mind Marathon, Heads Up, Memory Game, Whisper Challenge etc. On the second day, there were five activities which started at 8:30 AM such as Mimicry, Singing, Solo Dance, Group Dance, Fashion Show, etc. In each activity there were winners selected by the judges of the respective activities and they were awarded with the trophy and certificates. At the end, the college which won the maximum prizes was selected for the Trophy of Sphoorti Event 2024-25.

In nutshell, the event was very successful in which the students from St. John College of Humanities and Sciences as well as other colleges across Palghar district participated in different activities. In total  ……. Students participated in the event. The student’s enthusiasm was eye-catching and spontaneous. The event coordinator, Ms. Melista Rodrigues expressed a vote of thanks at the end.
