Librarian’s Day Celebration

Librarian’s Day Celebration held on 12 Aug 2024

The 132nd birth anniversary of Padma Shri Dr. S. R. Ranganathan was celebrated at St. John College of Humanities and Sciences on 12th August 2024. Librarians Day is celebrated on the birthday of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan, the Indian librarian and educator called as Father of Library Science in India, whose contributions have had worldwide influence. The role of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan in the development of libraries and their services was considered to be unforgettable.

Our principal, Dr. Muktha Manoj Jacob garlanded the photo of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan and spoke about the importance of libraries. Mr. Rajendra Sawant, Assistant Librarian, explained the life story of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan, his achievements, and his service and contribution in the library field. He spoke about the occasion and proposed the Vote of Thanks by Ms. Supriya Kore. All the library staff members, admin manager, faculty members, and students are presented. A book exhibition was also conducted during the occasion, and around 200 students visited for this exhibition.

The event was a grand success.
