A Seminar on ‘Music and Poetry in Cinema’ held on 27th September, 2024
The Literary Club and BA Department of St. John College of Humanities and Sciences have organised a session on ‘Music and Poetry in Cinema’ on 27th September, 2024 from 11:00 am to 12:30 PM. The objectives of the event were to make students aware about the field of Cinema, Poetry and Music, to develop their interest in the respective field etc. Mr. Sanjay Mishra, a renowned lyricist from the field of Indian music industry was invited as a speaker.
The inaugural session started at 11:00am. The speaker Mr. Sanjay Mishra arrived at college at 11:45AM. The Vice principal of St. John College of Humanities and Sciences, Ms. Pooja Shetty felicitated the speaker. Dr. Ravi Shankar Mishra, Sr. Laura Pinto( Head, administrator, SJCHS), were also present for the inaugural session. Later, the College Prayer was played. After the prayer, the speaker started his session.
Mr. Sanjay Mishra gave valuable lessons to all the students during his lecture on Indian Cinema, Poetry and Music. He insisted students to be hardworking, punctual, disciplined and empathetic to get success in their career. Being a lyricist, he shared his memories while working with Bollywood. He discussed the different phases in the field of Indian Cinema, Poetry and Music. Especially, he mentioned the famous lyricist Gulzar, Naushad; music players Anand Bakshi, Laxmikant Pyarela, directors Raj Kapoor and others.
He told the students about the dedication of the artists while working and their genuine involvement. Towards the end of the session, he appealed to the students to share their lyrics. Many students read some famous lyrics. Even a few students sang their own lyrics and made the session more filmic. At the end Mr. Arun Patil, coordinator of the Literary Club expressed vote of thanks. Ms. Nandini Patra was an anchor for the event.
In a nutshell, the event was very successful.Students actively participated in the event by reciting their poems. Coordinator of Literary Club Mr. Arun A. Patil, Dr. Vijay Songire, Ms. Shejal Mishra Ms. Mukthi Manai, Ms. Melista Rodrigues the technical team, students from the department of Arts took efforts for the successful conduction of the event.
