DLLE Street Play Highlights Civic Responsibility on Independence Day

The Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension (DLLE) organised and performed a street play titled “The Train That Never Arrived” on 15th August 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Paanch Batti, Palghar (W), as part of the 80th Independence Day celebrations under the national vision theme “Bharat 2047, The Journey Is Ours to Complete.”

Using a railway journey as a metaphor, the performance highlighted civic responsibility, personal accountability and community participation in building Viksit Bharat. Through satire, emotion and dialogue, the students addressed issues such as the “Mujhe Kya?” attitude, public littering, bribery and corruption, fake news, and superficial social media patriotism. The play concluded with an inspiring portrayal of farmers, teachers, entrepreneurs, railway workers and soldiers, emphasising integrity, education, unity, hard work and mutual respect as essential to India’s journey towards 2047.

The event was successfully conducted under the guidance of DLLE Faculty Coordinators Ms. Nisha Yadav and Mr. Pranshukumar Singh. The 6 Student Managers—Esther Jadhav, Chirag More, Manthan Tambe, Priyanka Rajak, Saad Thakur and Divya Sikarwar—along with the other 36 registered DLLE students, actively coordinated and participated in the programme, engaging with the local audience at Paanch Batti. In total, 57 DLLE students were involved in the initiative.

The street play successfully conveyed a powerful message of active citizenship and collective responsibility, leaving a positive impact on the community.
