Sphoorti 2025 Celebrated with the theme “From Our Roots We Rise”

Sphoorti 2025 was a vibrant and engaging two-day intercollegiate event organized by the Department of Arts in collaboration with the Department of Hospitality Studies. The event brought together students from various colleges, fostering creativity, collaboration, and cultural celebration.There was a footfall of approximately 300 students, out of which 251 students from 16 junior colleges and schools participated in the various competitive events.  The event was a grand success, offering a platform for talent and enthusiasm to shine.

Theme: “From Our Roots We Rise”

The theme for Sphoorti 2025, “From Our Roots We Rise,” reflected a deep connection to our cultural heritage while emphasizing growth, transformation, and progress. This theme encouraged participants to explore their origins, traditions, and values and to use them as a foundation to aspire higher. Whether it was through dance, art, music, or fashion, students showcased how their cultural identity and roots inspire them to evolve, innovate, and rise to new heights in modern society.
This powerful message resonated throughout the event, reminding everyone that progress is most meaningful when it is rooted in authenticity and tradition.


Sponsorship and Stalls

Sphoorti 2025 was proudly sponsored by M&M Studio, adding charm and professional flair to the proceedings. The award sponsorship was graciously provided by GMS Academy, recognizing the excellence of the students.

The event also featured a vibrant marketplace of stalls, which were a major attraction among students. These included:

These stalls offered a mix of food, fashion, accessories, and creativity, adding life and color to the event space. Students thoroughly enjoyed engaging with the diverse offerings.

Day 1 Highlights – Inauguration and Fun Activities

The event began with a grand inauguration ceremony at 9:30 AM, inaugurated by Dr. Savita Tauro, Campus Director – St. John Technical Campus and Principal of St. John Institute of Pharmacy and Research, Mrs. Suchita Gharat Principal of St. John Junior College, Sister Veena, Principal of St. John International School, Sister Linda – Principal Aldel High School, Dr. Evans Coutinho- Dean Research of St. John Campus, Dr. Muktha M. Jacob, Principal of St. John college of Humanities and Sciences.This was followed by an insightful career counselling session by Ms. Golda Alexander, which helped students understand opportunities and career paths in today’s dynamic world.
Post the formal sessions, a series of fun and competitive events energized the atmosphere:

11:30 AM – Human Snake & Ladder, Doodle Art,
12:00 PM – Squid Game, Photography Contest
12:30 PM – Mind Marathon, PubG
1:30 PM – Memory Game and Mocktail Mix
2:00 PM – Heads Up Challenge, Face Painting
3:30 PM – Telepathy Game, Awaz Social Skit, Mehendi

Students actively participated in these games, showcasing their creativity, teamwork, and enthusiasm.

Day 2 Highlights – Cultural Competitions and Prize Distribution


The second day celebrated artistic and performing talents with an array of competitions:

8:30 AM – Solo Singing
9:30 AM – Group Singing
10:30 AM – Solo Dance
11:30 AM – Group Dance
12:30 PM – Fashion Show: Glam

Each performance was a reflection of the theme — rooted in tradition yet modern in execution. The stage came alive with energy, color, and culture. The main attraction of the event was a concert by Sigfred Group, Vasai.

The event concluded with the Valedictory session at 3:00 PM. The winners were given prizes, acknowledging the hard work and excellence of the participants across all categories. The session was graced by the Principal Dr. Muktha Manoj Jacob and dignitaries Mr. Manoj jacob, founder of GMS academy, Mrs. Mugdha Raut, Vice principal of St. John Junior College and  Sister Linda, Principal,Aldel High School. The event formally ended with a vote of thanks delivered by Mrs.Treasa Francis, the convenor of Sphrooti, expressing gratitude to sponsors, participants, faculty, and volunteers who made Sphoorti 2025 a memorable celebration.

Sphoorti 2025 was more than just a college event — it was a celebration of unity, heritage, creativity, and growth. Through its well-curated theme and activities, it left a lasting impact on every student, reminding us that from our roots, we truly rise.
