On December 6th 2025, the Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension DLLE in collaboration with Women Development Cell of St. John College of Humanities and Sciences Autonomous organized a Human Rights Poster Making Competition at CR 16, 5th Floor, from 10.00 am to 11.30 am, in observance of Human Rights Day. The activity witnessed active participation from 26 students, reflecting their enthusiasm and social awareness.

The programme commenced with the assembling of students at the designated venue, followed by a briefing session conducted by the activity in-charge, Dr. Akansha Thakur. Participants were guided regarding the rules and regulations and were introduced to the theme “Human Rights”. Students creatively expressed their perspectives on equality, dignity, freedom, justice, and real-life human rights challenges through visually compelling posters.

The posters were collected at the end of the allotted time and evaluated by the judges based on originality, creativity, relevance to the theme, and presentation. The activity provided a platform for students to showcase their artistic abilities while deepening their understanding of fundamental human rights guaranteed to all individuals.

 

Objectives:
1. To create awareness about the fundamental human rights guaranteed to all individuals.
2. To encourage students to express their understanding of human rights through creative visual communication.
3. To promote critical thinking about issues such as equality, dignity, freedom, and justice.
4. To sensitize participants to real-life human rights challenges faced by communities.

Methodology:
1. Assembling of students at decided venue
2. Guiding them about the rules and regulations 
3. Briefing them about the theme – Human Rights 
4. Collection of poster 
5. Declaration of results after judges evaluation 

Outcomes:
1. Students enhanced their creativity and visual communication skills.
2. The activity improved subject understanding and research skills related to the theme.
3. Participants developed confidence and self-expression.
4. The competition created awareness on social, environmental, or academic issues.
5. Students learned time management, originality, and teamwork

SWOT Analysis of the Event:
Strength:
● Encourages creativity, innovation, and visual learning among students.
● Enhances subject understanding and communication skills.
● High student engagement with low cost and easy execution.

Weakness:
● Limited time may restrict detailed content development.
● Artistic skills may vary, leading to uneven quality of posters.
● Requires adequate space for display and evaluation.

Opportunity:
● Can be integrated with academic subjects, awareness campaigns, and NAAC activities.
● Provides a platform to identify and nurture creative talents.
● Posters can be used for exhibitions, social media, and institutional branding.

Threats:
● Possibility of plagiarism or copied content.
● Lack of motivation among some students to participate.
● Inadequate resources or materials may affect participation.
