DLLE Visits ANAND Elder Care (Vriddashram)

On November 29th, 2025 Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension of St. John College of Humanities and Sciences Autonomous Organized A Visit to an Old-Age Home in Dhansar, Palghar for the registered DLLE extension Students. DLLE coordinator Ms. Vaishnavi Sankhe and Extension work teacher Ms Lithiya S. of St. John College of Humanities and Sciences Autonomous conducted this event. A total 46 students have participated in this visit.

The group of students, accompanied by faculty members, visited the Anand Vridhasharam with the aim of engaging the residents meaningfully and creating a joyful experience for them. Upon arrival, students were warmly welcomed by the staff and residents. The visit began with an interactive session, during which students engaged in conversations with the elderly, listening to their life stories, experiences, and perspectives. This interaction helped students better understand the challenges faced by senior citizens and the importance of emotional companionship. Students also organized a series of fun games specially designed to be inclusive and enjoyable for the residents. These games created a lively atmosphere and encouraged active participation, bringing smiles and enthusiasm among the elderly. The students then presented cultural performances, including dance and singing segments. The residents also joined in by singing along and sharing light-hearted moments, making the session interactive and memorable.

The visit concluded with a small gratitude gesture, where students expressed their appreciation to the 40 Vridhaashram residents for their warmth and participation by distributing roses and sweets. This DLLE visit was a successful and impactful initiative. It not only brought happiness to the senior citizens but also provided students with a profound learning experience. Such activities reinforce the spirit of compassion, responsibility, and community engagement.
