Deeksharambha – 2025 – First Year Induction Programme
The First Year Induction Programme was successfully conducted on 18th June 2025 at the event hall of St. John Technical and Educational Campus. The event was organized to formally welcome the new batch of First-Year students and orient them to the values, opportunities, and academic environment of the institution.
The programme officially began at 10:30 AM with a warm introduction by the comperes Mrs. Priya Chaursiya and Mrs. Jinal Shah, senior faculty members, followed by the Universal Peace Prayer that set a calm and thoughtful tone.
The Chief Guest Dr. Pednekar (former Vice Chancellor of the University of Mumbai), Guest of Honour, Dr. Evans Coutinho ( Dean, research, St. John Technical and Educational Campus), Guests Mr. Albert D’Souza( Chairman, Aldel Education Trust), Dr. Savita Tauro, ( Principal, St. John Institute of Pharmacy and Research), Dr. Muktha M. Jacob ( Principal, St. John College of Humanities and Sciences), Dr. Kamal Shah ( Principal, St. John Technical and Educational Campus) were welcomed with great respect and appreciation. All the faculty members across various departments were also present for the event.
A motivational video clip from the Bollywood movie Lakshya was screened, inspiring students to set goals and stay focused as they begin their academic journey. The objective was to motivate the students and to make them aware of the essential qualities required to achieve success in their career. The event featured a series of insightful addresses by esteemed dignitaries. Mr. Albert W. D’Souza, Chairman, delivered an encouraging speech, highlighting the importance of values in education. He emphasized discipline to be followed by students while pursuing their career
The Chief Guest, Dr. Suhas Pednekar spoke about embracing academic challenges with dedication, devotion and determination. He also highlighted the changing role of a teacher in the field of education and the student community should be ready to adapt to these changes.
Dr. Evans Coutinho, Guest of Honour and Dean, Research, urged students to be inquisitive and to develop a strong research orientation from the beginning of their career. He highlighted the significance of research activities and its relevance in career building.
Further, Dr. Savitha Tauro, Deputy Campus Director and Principal of SJIPR, addressed the students. She shared valuable insights on discipline, campus culture, and the opportunities available within the St. John campus, motivating the students to make the most of their campus life.
Dr. Muktha M. Jacob in her address emphasised the value of discipline, integrity, and consistent efforts in building a successful academic career. Her inspiring words motivated the student community gathered for the orientation.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Sr. Renita D’ Souza, acknowledging the contributions of all speakers, organizers, and student volunteers.
The event ended at 12:45PM on a patriotic note with the singing of the National Anthem. Overall, the induction programme was a grand success, leaving students inspired, informed, and connected to the larger vision of the institution.
