On October 13th, 2025 Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension of St. John College of Humanities and Sciences Autonomous on the occasion of International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction conducted A Movie Screening on the theme Youth Empowerment & Risk management titled “Youth” (Marathi movie) for the registered DLLE extension Students and First Year all CC subject students. DLLE coordinator Ms. Vaishnavi Sankhe and Extension work teachers Ms Lithiya S of St. John College of Humanities and Sciences Autonomous conducted this event. A total 284 students have attended the movie screening.
The screening of Youth provided several key takeaways for the students:Awareness of Rights and Responsibilities, Youth as Catalysts for Change, Importance of Education, Risk Management and Critical Thinking and Unity and Collective Action.
The movie screening was not merely a cinematic experience but an educational exercise designed to reinforce the core principles of democracy, equality, and justice. In the context of International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction, the event helped students understand the real-world implications of human rights and the role that youth play in upholding these values. The movie screening of Youth was a successful and impactful event. Through an engaging and socially relevant film, students were exposed to real-life challenges and the potential of youth-led transformation.
